Control Your Music While You Ride
Play, pause, skip songs and change the volume of the music on your phone from Ride Mode and Navigate, without leaving OnMyLead.
Music Controls let you pause, skip and turn the music up or down without switching apps, so the group map stays on your screen. They control the music already playing on your phone, from the app you play it in.
Music controls are a Pro feature. See Free and Pro. On a Free account, the music button carries a Pro tag. Your music app itself keeps playing as usual.
Open Music Controls
- In Ride Mode or Navigate, tap the round Music button with the music note. It sits on the right, just above Center on Me.
- The Music sheet shows what's playing and which app it's in, with big Previous Song, Play or Pause and Next Song buttons, and the volume with − and +.
- Swipe the sheet down or tap Close to go back to the map.
In Full Map, the Music button sits in the bar at the bottom, between Controls and EMERGENCY.
The buttons are big enough to use with gloves on, but pull over before you look at your phone.
What Works on Your Phone
| Play, Pause and Skip | Volume | |
|---|---|---|
| Android phone or tablet | Any music or podcast app: Spotify, YouTube Music, Apple Music, Pandora, Amazon Music and more | Yes |
| iPhone or iPad | Apple Music | Yes, for any app |
| onmylead.com | No | No |
On iPhone and iPad, Apple lets other apps control only Apple Music. When Spotify or another app is playing, the Music sheet says Playing in Another App and gives you the volume, plus Open Spotify if Spotify is on your phone (that leaves OnMyLead). Use the buttons on your headset or helmet communicator to skip. When nothing is playing, Play starts Apple Music.
On Android, the buttons control whichever app last played music. To see the song name and the app's name, tap Show Song Names, then switch on OnMyLead Music Controls under Notification Access in Settings. Android shares what's playing only with apps you allow there. OnMyLead doesn't read your notifications, and the buttons work without it.
On iPhone, tapping Show Song Names asks to let OnMyLead see the Apple Music song. If you said no before, it opens OnMyLead in Settings, where you can switch on Media & Apple Music.
Hide the Music Button
Don't want it? Tap Hide Music Button at the bottom of the Music sheet, or go to the You tab and switch off Music Controls. The button disappears from Ride Mode and Navigate. Switch Music Controls back on in the You tab any time. The setting is kept on each phone or tablet separately.
From 2.1 you can also show or hide it from the map: tap the round Map Settings button, then switch Music Button under Map Buttons.
