Get Started With OnMyLead
What OnMyLead is, how to get the app on iPhone, iPad or Android, make your account, and find your way around the Rides, Find, Groups and You tabs.
OnMyLead is a group ride app for off-road riders. The leader creates a ride, the crew joins with a code, link or QR code, and on the trail everyone shares one live map, a group chat and quick taps like Need Fuel and Flat Tire that tell the whole group at once.
Get the App
OnMyLead runs on iPhone, iPad, Android phones and Android tablets. Download OnMyLead free from the App Store on an iPhone or iPad, or from Google Play on an Android phone or tablet, then open it. It's the same account, rides and Pro plan on every device, and iPhone and Android riders ride together on the same map.
Make Your Account
You can look around without an account, but you need one to create rides, save your Garage and keep riding groups.
- On the Rides tab, tap Sign In or Create a Free Account.
- Tap Create Account at the top.
- Use one of the Continue with buttons, or enter Your Name, Email and a Password of at least 8 characters, then tap Create Account.
- If we email you a link, tap it on the same iPhone to confirm your email and finish signing in.
See Sign In and Create an Account for every way to sign in.
Next, pick your ride name. It's what other riders see on the map, the rider list and in chat. Until you pick one, Home shows Pick Your Ride Name and other riders see you as Rider. See Your Ride Name and Profile.
New accounts start with a free Pro Trial. See The Pro Trial.
Find Your Way Around
Four tabs run along the bottom of the screen.
On a tablet they run down the left edge instead. See Use OnMyLead on a Tablet.
Rides
Your home screen.
- Create a Ride: start a ride that you lead. Free accounts create one ride a month. See Create a Ride and Free and Pro.
- Join a Ride: type an invite code and tap Open. See Join a Ride.
- Find a Ride: opens the Find tab.
- When one of your rides is live, a card at the top says Your ride is live. Tap to open Ride Mode.
- Ride Invites, Your Rides and Past Rides list the rides you're on. Swipe a ride left to delete it (if you organize it) or leave it. On onmylead.com, click Delete or Leave at the end of the row instead. The app always asks first.
- Public Rides shows a few upcoming public rides near the bottom.
Find
Public rides on a map. Choose Near Me or By State, or use Search Near a Place to look around a trailhead, park or town. See Find a Ride.
Groups
Your riding groups, the groups you're in, and Leaders You Follow. Tap New Group to save your crew. You need an account for this tab; if you're signed out, it takes you to sign in. See Riding Groups.
You
Everything that isn't a ride:
- Your ride name and plan at the top.
- Your Gear: Garage, Trip Planner and Offline Maps.
- On the Trail: Share My Location and Starlink.
- Settings: Notifications, Directions (which maps app Navigate opens), Subscription and Blocked Riders.
- Account: the email you sign in with.
- Help: Contact Us and Help and Support.
- Sign Out and Delete Account at the bottom.
Permissions the App Asks For
Notifications
After you sign in, your iPhone asks if OnMyLead can send notifications. Say yes so you hear when someone in your group taps Need Help or EMERGENCY, even with the phone in your pocket. Tapping a notification opens the ride it is about. You choose everything else in Notification Settings.
Location
OnMyLead asks for your location when you first use it, for example to find rides near you or when you start sharing on a ride. Your location is shared only with riders you choose, only while you're sharing.
When you share on a ride, your iPhone may also ask to allow location Always. Allow it so your group keeps seeing you while your phone is locked on the mount. Sharing with a ride always stops when your timer ends or the ride ends. See Location Sharing.
On Android, allow location While Using the App. OnMyLead never asks for Allow All the Time: while you share, Android shows a Sharing Your Location notification, and that keeps your group updated with the phone locked. On Android 13 and later, allow notifications too, so you can see that notification and hear Need Help and EMERGENCY alerts.
Photos
If you add a photo of your machine to your Garage, the app asks to use your photos. Only the photo you pick is uploaded.
Using the Website
Some things also work at onmylead.com in a web browser:
- Sign in with the same account.
- Create a ride from your computer and draw its route on a big map. See Create a Ride on the Website.
- Open a ride with its invite code.
- Send us a message with Contact Us.
- On a computer, once you're signed in, Rides, Find, Groups and You run down the left side of the page.
- Read these guides: click Help at the top of the home page, on a computer or a phone.
Ride Mode and live tracking stay in the app on your phone or tablet.
Notices From the Team
Sometimes a card at the top of Home shows a message from the OnMyLead team, like Planned Maintenance or an announcement. You can close an announcement with its X. A maintenance notice stays until the work is done.
If a screen says something like Trip Planner Is Off for Now, that feature is switched off for a while. Everything you saved is kept, and your rides work as usual.
